an outstanding scientist, microbiologist and epidemiologist.

Daniil Kirilovich was born in the village of
Chobotarka, in Kruzopolskij district, in Vinnichina. After graduating
from the medical faculty of Kyiv University he devoted his life
to studying pestilent infections.
Scientific works on the research of infectious
diseases, including plague and cholera brought fame to Zabolotny.
The microbiologist studied plague in India as a member of special
expeditions. He was the head of the scientific expedition, based
on the studying of cholera in Eastern Mongolia. At the invitation
of the government of China- Eastern railway he organized struggle
against plague in Manchzuria, where the disease was taking thousands
of life at that time.
Making researches, Daniil Kirilovich experimentally
proved the identity of origin of bubonic and pneumonic plague and
medicinal effect of antiplague serum. Zabolotny is the author of
a lot of scientific works on aetiology, treatment and precautions
of infectious diseases such as plague, cholera, malaria, diphtheria,
typhus, etc.) The world famous epidemiologist «chumogon» as he jokingly
called himself, was academician and President of the Academy of
Science of Ukraine.
Memorial estate of D.K. Zabolotny
The memorial estate comprises the father’s house
of the scientist and the expositional building. The interior of
the house at most resembles the one, existing during the scientist’s
life. Personal belongings and photographs tell about the life of
an outstanding microbiologist. The exposition of the museum, located
at the second half of the complex, consists of 4 halls. Here scientific
works of Zabolotny, documents, photographs, geographical maps of
expeditions, in which he took part, are represented.
